I'm a newlywed (married in June 2008) and live in Texas with my husband, two cats, and two dogs.

We live in ranch-style house built in the 1950s which lately always seems to need repairs.

This is my sixth year teaching--I spent the first two years in Teach for America. This blog began during the TFA days, so feel free to read back to 2003 when it began.

I don't want a baby, but I want a baby!
I started reading a wedding planning website about a year ago, and now that I'm no longer wedding planning, I'm very interested in the other 'conversations' on the site. My husband and I would both love to have a baby soon, but there's no way we can afford it right now. But we still want a baby. It's illogical, but that's evolution for ya. It's hard because we have this nice house with enough rooms to have my husband's office, our bedroom, a baby room, and still keep our guest room open on the other side of the house for my mom or whoever is visiting.

I also struggle with the fact that I'd love to be a stay-at-home-mom when the baby gets born, but I don't think we'll ever be able to afford it. So childcare is another cost to factor in. I'd love to have a baby soonish though. I'm really happy being married to my husband, and I think our life is pretty great. He'll be a fantastic father, too.
